A Plea for Lean Transportation

Complex vs. Simple

Too much complexity in solving our transport crisis in our country should make us question the solutions presented rather than praise it.

What's with the obsession of solving traffic congestion by introducing more access, more expressways to accommodate cars? Have we not learned from our Western and Asian Car-centric neighbors? Have we not learned from the visits to countries who have solved or alleviated the effects of car traffic by having less of it and providing more alternatives to move that does not involve a car?

Mobility doesn't have to be too complicated. Public transportation takes care of the complexity as long as it's prioritized. In a country with a gaping hole of debt, I can't fathom why that's not the case. Why is movement of privately owned motor vehicles absurdly prioritized over public transport to the point where the government considers a private company's proposal to pave a river for an expressway project?
